The church of Christ at Hickman Mills in south Kansas City is a family-oriented group of people that have made Jesus Christ Lord and King of their lives.  Our desire is for Jesus to lead us, grow us, motivate us – all in his image, for truly, he is King of Kings.

At this point, it may be standard to print a grandiose narrative about how we are so wonderful and perfect.  However, the truth is that we are a bunch of people who truly need the Savior – we have been saved by grace and not by our own perfection.  We are not too pretty.  We have all sinned and continue to sin, although hopefully less and less each day.  We often fail our perfect and almighty Lord, but we do trust in his grace, mercy, and forgiveness.  Ultimately, it is his disciples that we choose to struggle to be.  In this, we carry on in the great strength of the Lord who promises us victory if we dedicate ourselves to the proposition…”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

The beautiful truth about God is that he has made it possible for humans to be his children.  The glory goes to God for the great love wherein he makes us a part of his family.  This glory is not in the created but in the Creator.  Being his children, we freely and lovingly confess this awesome truth.

We are not a social club nor do we throw away contributions to the Lord on fun and games.  Though we can certainly laugh and find great joy in life, we are a spiritual church with spiritual purposes.  This was God’s design for his local church and we want to be that body that he invented and regulates.

Please know that we want to help you to know some very important things.  Things like, who you are (created to love God and be loved by him), your purpose (a life of God – his righteous and holy ways), and how you can find God (listen to his revealed letter, the Bible).  The message of God is something to rejoice about, God can be found by the seeking spirit.  We encourage you to switch on your seeking spirit and find the joy of the Savior that loves you more than anyone else in all of existence.
